I want a tropical vacation! I have a few cards to share today featuring Sunny Studio’s Tropical Paradise stamp set. I searched a long time for tropical set that had just the images I was looking for, and this one was a great match for me. Here are the first pair of cards I made with the set.
I didn’t really have a plan in mind, but justt started by stamping a bunch of images on Neenah Solar White cardstock then coloring them with Copic markers, then using my Brother ScanNCut to cut them out. I decided these bright images could stand up to a bold background, so I used a Hero Arts Tropical Background stencil and some Distress Inks (Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, and Peacock Feathers for one, and Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, and Squeezed Lemonade for the other) on Bristol paper. I did use a bit of spray adhesive on the back of the stencil to get a clean look and ensure the stencil didn’t shift (I’m a little rough when I’m ink blending).
I stamped the sentiments (aso from the same stamp set) on some coordinating color cardstock and heat embossed in white. I chose the accent paper so it would blend in, rather than stand out. I wanted the colored images to remain the focal points here.
I used a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die to cut the stenciled backgrounds, then the hard part…..okay, not hard, but it required decisions. I had to decide how to group/place all the images I had colored. 🙂
To finish things off, I attached the panels on my card base, added some Wink of Stella, and an enamel dot to one of the flowers. Here are some close-up pics of the details.
The third card was made to use up the leftover images I had stamped and colored. I had just cleaned the adhesive off my stencil, so I decided to smoosh Distress Ink as a background for this one I kept this card “sunny” using Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Twisted Citron. I added the images, stamped the sentiment directly on the panel (should have used my Misti -note the wonky aligment of the word “day”)!!! A few swishes of Wink of Stella and an enamel dot, and this one is a wrap.
